Almost all competitive US government grants require applicants to supply information listed on a Request For Applications, or RFA. This verifies the applicant’s ability to perform the work required, and allows applicants to be judged on an equal basis.
This guide refers to details of each RFA, and will help you map out your progress. Remember you must fulfill all requirements within the RFA as it is the definitive document.
This grant is for a private veterinarian who wants to, or already is, working with livestock in a shortage area. It provides $75,000 over 3 years to help pay off your student loans. An extension is possible with a new application.
RPE: The Rural Practice Enhancement grant is for $125,000 for a 3 year program for rural practitioners for upgrades to improve their delivery of food animal care. You must be in a shortage area to apply for this one.
