NIFA Grants 2026: VMLRP and VSGP-RPE
LifeStock entered into a cooperative agreement with USDA-NIFA to provide enhanced awareness of the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP) and the Veterinary Services Grant Program-Rural Practice Enhancement (VSGP-RPE) and to mentor applicants through the application process, as needed.

There are no fees to use this site, and no fees to apply to any NIFA grants.
Here are the 2 programs we can assist with:
1) The Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP)
This grant is for a private veterinarian who wants to, or already is, working with livestock in a shortage area. Note that for 2026 the maximum award amount has been increased to $40,000 per year for 3 years with an additional payment of $15,600 per year to cover tax liability, for a total maximum award of $120,000 for loan repayment and $46,800 for tax liability. An extension is possible with a new application.
2) The VSGP Rural Practice Enhancement grant (VSGP-RPE)
RPE: This grant has a maximum award of $200,000 over 3 years for rural clinics for upgrades to improve their delivery of food animal care in a shortage area.
